Samples are two hours apart, not exact rise or set events. Check whether altitude is increasing before waiting. Positive altitude does not account for cloud, daylight or the local skyline.
These are astronomical estimates, not a confirmed sighting. Weather is not included in this summary; check the live forecast or the sky. You can choose another place using the location control.

What does tonight's moon look like? Find out exact compass azimuth, altitude above horizon, illumination percentage, and optimal stargazing time.
Observational Checkpoints for Tonight
Real-time Direction & Altitude: Indicates whether the moon is above horizon and which compass direction (East, South, West) to face.
Current Phase & Illumination: Live percentage from 0% (New Moon) to 100% (Full Moon) with 3D realistic rendering.
Cloud Coverage & Viewing Index: Integration with Open-Meteo weather forecast to provide stargazing clarity.
How to read today’s result
Altitude is the Moon’s angle above the horizon. Near 0° it is easily blocked by terrain, buildings and haze. Azimuth increases clockwise from true north: 90° is east, 180° south and 270° west.
Brightness alone is not enough
A bright Moon cannot be seen when it is below the horizon or behind cloud. A thin crescent can be visible after sunset when the western horizon is clear. This page therefore combines phase, altitude, rise and set times and cloud cover.
When reality differs
Check compass calibration, the local skyline and changing cloud in that order. Reproducible differences can be reported with time, approximate location and device details.
From a Moon time to a real observing plan
Confirm the place and timezone shown above. City-center results differ from your exact observing spot.
Read altitude and azimuth together: a positive altitude means above the calculated horizon, not a clear line of sight.
Compare your goal with the hourly path, weather and skyline. No forecast means conditions are unknown.
