Editorial and correction policy

Last reviewed: October 7, 2026

Scope and authorship

The operator writes and maintains material that helps readers locate, understand and photograph the Moon. Automated calculations are labelled as estimates and are not presented as direct observations.

Sources and review

Technical explanations are checked against the software documentation and primary data provider documentation used by the service. Sources are linked where they help a reader verify a claim.

Corrections

Reports are checked against a reproducible time, location and device context. Confirmed factual or calculation-description errors are corrected and material changes update the review date.

Advertising independence

Advertising does not determine results, conclusions or accepted corrections. Sponsored material, if ever published, will be clearly labelled.

How this revision was made

On October 7, 2026, practical observing guides and request-time lunar summaries were added. AI assisted drafting and code changes; explanations were checked against the application rules and named sources. Simulated examples are labeled. Device-specific field tests and original observation photos are not fabricated. Review dates change when relevant content is actually reviewed.

Sources, responsibility and limitations

Lunar calculations use SunCalc in the browser. Cloud and precipitation forecasts come from Open-Meteo after coordinates are rounded to two decimal places. Terrain, buildings, haze and compass calibration can make a real observation differ from the estimate.
